Movies of the DAY!!!

The next two of our countdown are...

3-Night of the Living Dead (1968)
The godfather of the Zombie Genre! This masterpiece by George A. Romero is still, in my opinion, one of the best Zombie movies ever made. The film holds up well for it's age and the low budget Mr. Romero had to work with. The story line revolves around characters in a rural area "holed up" in a farm house during a massive zombie outbreak. The late Duane Jones puts in a kickass performance as "Ben". The one man who is halfway hanging onto his sanity, while simultaneously trying to keep the other hysterical characters from getting everyone killed. If you have never seen this film then this is the night to make it happen!!!

4-The Howling(1981)
The story of a newswoman, who, after a run in with a serial killer, decides to head to a resort for some rest. Turns out she picked the wrong resort for peace and quiet! If you love werewolves then I am sure you've already seen this. Great special effects by Rob Bottin, including one of the best werewolf transformations on film! Also including a ton of gore, werewolf action, full frontal nudity, and (one of my favorite comedic actors) Slim Pickens! I have to say, the subsequent sequels were not as good as this first one, so tread carefully if you want to explore the rest of the series. Either way though, this is one awesomely 80's Werewolf flick!

I hope you guys are having fun with this list. We are just getting started. There are many films that did not make the cut, for one reason or another. I will be posting a list of the "runners up" here shortly. I would like to look at those films as maybe a supplement to the countdown picks. They might offer some alternative suggestions for some of the flicks you have already seen or didn't care for. Anyway, I will probably be throwing those up tomorrow! Thank you guys for reading and don't forget to tell your friends about our countdown to Halloween!!!

  1. I just downloaded "Deadly Friend", which is a very early Wes Craven film. Pretty awesome...
