Tonight... A Two-fer From Tim Burton!!! Eat It UP!!!

It's going to be a Tim Burton double feature!!! Starting with...

11-Beetlejuice (1988)
BEETLEJUICE!! BEETLEJUICE!! BEETLEJU---  Whoa! Just asking for trouble there, eh? I better just tell you about the movie. haha. As far as I am concerned, Tim Burton's Beetlejuice is the best work Michael Keaton has ever done and he's only shown on screen for a little over 15 mins total. I was a kid when this came out and it quickly became one of my favorites. It's not exactly a kids movie, it's actually pretty gruesome, there's at least one F-bomb in there (best scene ever), and nothing says "for kids" like a devil lady whorehouse! Of course my Dad pretty much let me watch whatever, much to my Mother's dismay. Annnyways, Alec Baldwin and Gina Davis play the Maitlands, an all-American married couple who have recently met a tragic end. Just as they are trying to get their bearings as newly dead folk, a family of high society, pseudo intellectual, art snobs, the Deetz (Jeffrey Jones and Catherine O'Hara) decide to move into the Maitlands beloved home they are haunting. They befriend the Deetz's depressed uber-Goth daughter, Lydia (Winona Ryder), who seems to be the only living person who can see them. Having no luck ousting the Deetz on their own, the Maitlands reluctantly turn to Beetlejuice (Keaton), an over the top, self proclaimed exorcist of the living. This movie as an absolute must see. I am pretty sure most of you have seen it, but if not you need to make it happen! NOW!
Also as a side note, I just read a few articles that are saying a script for a sequel (not a remake) is in the works, as we speak. They were very clear that it's a continuation of the original movie and apparently, Michael Keaton is very interested in reviving the Beetejuice character. That would be fucking awesome!!! Especially since it's not going to be just another remake.

Keeping tonight in Tim Burton mode, your next flick is...

12-Sleepy Hollow
Johnny Depp plays Ichabod Crane in this kick ass retelling of the classic Washington Irving tale. This is one hell of a retooling! The mood is grey and foggy, the tone is darkly humorous, the cast is freaking amazing, and heads do literally roll through the streets!!! The story is that of Ichabod, a New York investigator who strongly believes in science and logic, who is sent to Sleepy Hollow to investigate murders allegedly committed by the ghostly Headless horseman! There he meets a colorful group of townsfolk who are firm believers in superstition and legend. The formidable cast includes Christopher Walken, Michael Gambon, Miranda Richardson, Jeffrey Jones, Casper van Dien, Richard Griffiths, Ian McDiarmid, Lisa Marie, Christopher Lee, Christina Ricci (one of my favorite actresses!!), and the late Michael Gough. This was Mr. Gough's last film. I highly recommend this one as well. Not only because it's a great Tim Burton movie, or because he seemed to enjoy throwing in shots of (then girlfriend) Lisa Marie's cleavage (anyone else think he was showing off a bit?), but also because it has a wonderful mix of atmosphere, humor, scares, and a lot of horseman decapitation action!
